The Young Carers project works with young people between the ages of 5-18 who have extra responsibilities at home because of the ill health or disability of a family member. We currently have over 200 Young Carers registered with the project. Hillingdon Carers started this project in this borough in 2001 to relieve the pressure on young people who have a caring role at home. The aim of the Young Carers project is to soften the psychological or emotional impact a caring role may make.
Being part of the Young Carers group is fun and offers a valuable opportunity to meet other young people in similar circumstances. Many young carers find making friends and socialising outside of school difficult because of their caring responsibilities. This unique group in Hillingdon offers the opportunity to get together and participate in many activites, all of which are free of charge.
Young Carers team are available if they need any further support.
